SNOOTY PRESENTS: THE BEST ALBUM OF 2009 (GRIZZLY BEAR - VECKATEMIST)

It seems like years ago since the release of Grizzly Bear's third album Veckatemist. Well it was basically a year so that probably explains that sentiment, but the buzz never really faded for me. When the project was released I decided then and there I would create a best record of the year post on Snooty solely to commemorate the greatness of this album. That being said, I had a biased view on the Top 20 from the get go. But that isn't completely true, when push came to shove at the end of the year, Grizzly Bears' Veckatemist from start to finish was still without a doubt the most impressive album of the year. 'Two Weeks' and 'Cheerleader' were the first two tracks to come out and served as a good indication that Veckatemist was for the masses. Other tracks like "While We Wait For Others', 'About Face', "Foreground' basically served as the Snooty soundtrack of 2009. And thats what's really amazing this album, put it on,  close your eyes and it really can serve as a soundtrack for anything. Although I said straight up Hometowns was the best album of the second half of '09, Veckatemist didn't have a disappointing moment the entire year. And thats why shes-a-winner. The Snooty Best Album of 2009 goes to Grizzly Bear for Veckatemist fuck ya.
